Comprehensive Ranking System CRS
The Comprehensive Ranking System CRS is used by Citizenship and Immigration CIC to rank qualified applicants, who submitted their profile, on the Express Entry pool. The Comprehensive Ranking System CRS is calculated on a points-based system to assess the profile information candidates submitted profile on the Express Entry Skilled Immigration program.
The CRS will assess information on immigrants applying under the Express Entry based on their skills, work experience, language ability, education, provincial nomination and other factors.

The Comprehensive Ranking System CRS factors are chosen based on study completed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada CIC. These Comprehensive Ranking System CRS factors all play a role in economic success for immigrants in Canada. Additional points will be awarded for candidates who have a job offer or have provincial nomination certificate (PNP certificate) by one of Canada’s provinces or territories under their provincial nominee programs PNP. Comprehensive Ranking System CRS award additional 600 points to the Express Entry applicant.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada CIC will select the highest ranking candidates from the Express Entry pool through regular draws and invite selected Express Entry, skilled worker applicants, to apply to immigrate as a permanent resident to Canada.
The Express Entry is designed to attract strong skilled immigrants under the economic immigration category and the Canadian labour market. Comprehensive Ranking System CRS qualifies candidates who applied under the Express Entry EE with a job offer with enough points to ensure they are ranked high enough to get an invitation to apply. Job Offer is not required to apply under Canada Express Entry program.
Some employers may want to invite a skilled worker immigrant under the express entry in order to retain the skilled worker for a long time working for the company. The employer will need to have a positive LMIA Labour Market Impact Assessment with the job offer. The LMIA will permit the employer to extend a job offer o the Express Entry applicant. More points are awarded under the Comprehensive Ranking System CRS to applicants with Job offer.
Similarly, a nomination by a province or territory, will give a candidate 600 additional points to rank high enough to be invited to apply at the next eligible draw of candidates.
The Comprehensive Ranking System CRS Maximum points that can be awarded to an applicant under the Express Entry skilled worker program are 1200 points.
